About

Our aim is to trace your family line back to the 1700’s, possibly further, and be able to provide a clear and accurate account of the lives of your individual ancestors. We can produce your ancestral family tree showing up to 9 generations – that’s your great, great, great, great, great, great grandparents! You can also learn about their lives, loves, achievements and bereavements as well as their occupations and any military connections.

Clients can choose how much information they wish to uncover and our service options are designed to suit all budgets. Whether you’re just curious about where your roots lie or you want to virtually ‘meet’ your ancestors and find out everything there is to know about them, Ancestry Search has the perfect package for you.

What's Involved?

The process begins with a consultation, either in person or by email, whichever is more convenient for you. Our researcher gathers as much information as possible about your family, in particular the surnames and maiden names of your parents and grandparents. We then use this information to begin your ancestry search, scouring our vast database of records for information about your ancestors.

To identify your ancestors we access records from all around the world including Birth, Marriage and Death records, Parish records, Census and Electoral rolls, Immigration and Travel records, Military records, British & Former British Colony Slave Registers, Wills and Probate records, Maps, National and International Phone Books, Irish Tithe Applotment Books, Newspapers and Periodicals and many, many more.

As each individual record is located, a thorough identity check is performed to determine beyond reasonable doubt whether or not the record relates to your ancestor. Only when we are sure that we have identified your ancestor correctly will we add their name to your tree. It may be necessary for us to contact you during the search process in order to verify certain information. This is usually done by email but can be done by telephone if you prefer.

The roots of your Family Tree start to spread as each new ancestor is identified and added. Then we start to uncover more and more information about their daily lives which enables us to construct accurate accounts of your ancestors’ life-stories  – or AnceStories!

As soon as we have gathered every piece of information covered by your service package, we present it to you in the appropriate format and our researcher will then answer any questions you may have about the information presented. If you have purchased any optional extras these will be produced and presented to you at the same time.

You can contact us at any time during the process and your researcher will be able to answer your questions via email.
